ESRF is involved in capacity building activities for building / strengthening human capacity in government , civil society and private sector in policy analysis and development management. Using a process approach , and taking into account activities currently undertaken by local training institutions , ESRF will coordinate capacity needs assessment activities of primary government institutions engaged in the function of economic policy analysis and development management . These needs assessment will also cover critical civil society organizations whose capacity needs to be built / strengthened in order for them to actively participate in the policy process. Activities also included in this component are the coordination of the design and delivery of tailor made training modules in economic and social policy analysis and development management for government officials, representatives of the civil society and private sector in order to enhance their capacity to understand and contribute to policy formulation and management. Furthermore, a coaching and mentoring program providing continual on – the – job guidance to specific government policy analysts and managers will be organized . Also , a Visiting Fellowship Program through which policy practitioners will spend some time at the Foundation undertaking specific policy analysis work will be established . All these activities will be jointly undertaken with local training activities whose capacity will be strengthened in order for Tanzania to acquire / strengthen a sustainable national training capacity in economic policy analysis and development management. It is also envisaged that ESRF will be collaborate with regional and international institutions which are engaged in training in policy analysis and development management. This will provide a broader {regional and international} perspective of the national level policy and development management issues. Finally, ESRF staff will be given the opportunity to visit other policy research institutions in the region and abroad to widen their horizon on various aspects of policy research and coordination of capacity building activities. |
