DOCUMENTATION UNIT

In order to achieve ESRF objectives the documentation unit aims at building a comprehensive collection in social science areas particularly economic and social welfare.

 

CURRENT SITUATION

The current collection comprises about 4000 volumes, 50 periodical tiles 19 newspapers and 1 CD-ROM subscription title (Econlit).

 

SERVICES AND FUNCTIONS OF THE DOCUMENTATION UNIT

The documentation unit provide up to date information and documentation services to researchers using modern technology these includes the use of Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC), CD_ROM, On-line databases document delivery services and Internet resources.

The unit offers Current Awareness Services (CAS), Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI), enquiry services, online document delivery services, documents binding, e mail and internet services

 

AUTOMATION

The library has been automated using Bookworm Library Management System. The software can do the following: acquisition, cataloguing, circulation, and Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC). It can also automatically generate Bar codes and Accession number.

STAFF

At present there is one qualified Librarian, holding a BA (Hons) in Librarianship and Information studies and Msc in Information science.
